#TOPSHOP LONDON – Behind the Scenes
Stefanie Rycraft Jones is the Fashion One correspondent for London Fashion Week, taking us backstage for the Topshop Unique Autumn/Winter collection held at Turbine Hall. Famous people attending the show were Kate Moss, Harley Viera-Newton, Mary Charteris, Daisy Lowe, Poppy Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Charlotte Moss, Natalie Massenet, Tallulah Harlech, Maisie Williams, Sir Philip Green and Anna Wintour.
There was plenty of faux in this collection: sheepskin, fur gilets and python. You’ll find plenty of woollens, lace and silk highlighted with embroidered and animaleque beads and floral prints. Autumn colors dominate this fashion show, with Buttermilk, Ginger, Champagne, Teal, Sapphire, Saffron, Silver Chalice, Mustard, Smoky Topaz, Jet Black, Spanish Carmine, Charcoal Grey and Metallic Slate Grey.
This collection is tailored specifically for the upwardly mobile London set who is all about the fashion sleek of furs and leathers without actually having to wear the skins of dead animals. Current fashion trends are married nicely with a youthful relevant edge. Here you’ll find a belted dishevelled style with cropped knits, parkas, pinafore dresses, lack skirts, leather shirts, sweatshirts, sequined tops, bulky tunics, trench coats, and sheer blouses.
Some of the outstanding garments found in this show include a Saffron and Jet Black embroidered shirt dress with elbow-length sleeves, short collar and zippered front; Jet Black and Sapphire floral knee-length dress with elbow-length sleeves short collar and zippered neckline. The first piece was nicely accented with a black polo sweater and Jet Black knee-length lace skirt. The second piece was accented with layers – Burgundy polo shirt with mid-length sleeves, and a Sapphire knee-length silk gossamer dress. Both pieces were absolutely stunning.
Two of the models for the show were Jourdan Dunn and Querelle Jansen.
