The terms ‘haute couture’ and ‘super chic’ have this collection in mind. Lebanese designer Tony Ward’s Spring/Summer collection for 2014 was held in Paris and was a smash hit. But it’s not surprising considering some of the dresses in his collection were very labour-intensive, with one or two tailors and three assistants working on each dress, taking over 200 hours to complete. The small details mean so much to Tony Ward. He takes time to complete each piece as if it is art.

The colors in this collection range from Pale Plum, Pearl and Bisque to Moss Green, Jet Black and Bugarian Rose. This collection is all about texture and elegance. He has said that origami flowers were incorporated into many of his dresses and you can see the effect in some of the gowns – Light Beige floor-length ball gown with one strap, accented with small chiffon gathers and straight neck-lined bodice; Pearl sleeveless evening gown with small train, crew-neckline, patterned with small Jet Black flowers on the bodice, hip and hem; elegant Bright Lavender and Catalina Blue mid-thigh length dress with padded shoulders, slit neckline, angle-cut hem; Pale Lavender strapless evening gown with scalloped bodice, accented with midriff lace panel and small train; Pale Lavender short-sleeved evening gown with boat neckline, chiffon skirt and textured bodice flowing down into five points, and; Silver two piece textured waist-length jacket and mini skirt, accented with textured silk fabric, high collar and plunging neckline.

Each dress in this collection has been lovingly created and it shows. One can quite easily picture Angelina Jolie-Pitt or Michelle Obama wearing Tony Ward’s creations. This is one of those collections that make you feel quite light headed and breathless.
