For those of us who wear makeup, we all love when our makeup application looks absolutely flawless giving us that natural glow. But how does one achieve this flawless look? Well there is one product necessary for this look of perfection and that is FOUNDATION. Yes, foundation is the key product which will help you to achieve flawless looking skin.
With so many different foundations on the beauty market today and beauty gurus raving about their favourite foundations it is often confusing finding which foundation is right for you.
Here are three questions to consider when choosing a foundation.
1. Does it fit into my budget?
Since foundation is a product that you will need to replace perhaps once a month (depending on your usage) it is best to choose one that fits into your monthly budget. Let’s be realistic, not everyone can afford to splurge on a Mac or Christian Dior foundation every month and while these foundations are a bit pricier it doesn’t necessarily mean they are better. As long as the foundation is doing the job right then that is all that matters, forget about brands and what the top beauty gurus are wearing, after all no one will be able to tell the brand of foundation you are wearing unless they ask you of course.
2. Is it right for my skin type?
Dry, oily, combination, our skin type falls under one of these three categories. If you have dry skin you might consider choosing a foundation that has additional moisture, if you have oily skin should stay away from oil based foundations as they will clog your pores and cause extra shine and you don’t want to be walking around with your face looking like a mirror.
For those of us who have combination skin you can typically use any foundation. Most foundation labels show the recommended skin type or whether the product is oil-based or water-based and so on.
3. Is it the correct shade for my skin tone?
The purpose of foundation is to cover skin imperfections and enhance the natural glow of your skin; it shouldn’t hide your natural complexion but instead blend seamlessly with your natural skin tone. Foundations come in a range of shades; you can test foundation to see if it is the right shade for you by swatching on your jaw line and see how it looks in translucent lighting which is usually found in the beauty section of some beauty stores.
