So you wanna be a fashion blogger?

You think to yourself “Hmmm…I love fashion…why not share my style with the world?” This is a great thought, but unless you are willing to leave your full time job and accept that fashion blogging is a full time gig, then the blogging industry may not be for you. On the other hand, if you are willing and able to put in all the hard work, the payout is great…we’re talking hundreds of thousands and in some case–millions!

So how and why are fashion bloggers making the “big bucks”?

Fashion bloggers are drawing the eyes of major designers because they have very powerful voices, a strong audience and truly bridge the gap between the fashion house and their customers. heir audiences are highly engaged through both social media and their blogs and ave a complete yearning for their style and to guide them through their next shopping experience.

So the large paychecks come whenever fashion houses link up with these fashion bloggers and have them write sponsored (meaning they pay them to write) content, or share through social media–or even just to wear their clothing to events!

It was reported by Marie Claire that designer Rebecca Minkoff paid Fashiontoast’s Rumi Neely $3,000 to share an instagram photo of herself wearing the brands new denim line–though apparently the deal never went through.

In addition, designers also look to fashion bloggers in collaboration deals…score!

It’s not easy though–so don’t give up your day job and start a fashion blog. Growing the audience in the hardest part and takes time, but the payoff is tremendous!
