@caribbeanfashionweek – Kingston, Jamaica – ON NOW
Caribbean Fashion Week kicks off today Thursday June 12, 2014 in the city of Kingston, located on the beautiful island of Jamaica. The event is the largest and the most internationally recognized fashion event held in the Caribbean showcasing designs from both local and overseas talent.
Caribbean Fashion Week was established and produced in 2001 by Pulse Ltd and has made a positive impact on the Caribbean fashion scene by creating a platform where established and emerging designers can showcase their designs to potential customers, potential buyers, etc.
Recognized by British Vogue as “an important new development in the world of fashion”, the event plays host to many fashion industry professionals such as Supermodels and celebrities who come out to view the beautiful fashions, Model Scouts from around the globe who journey to the region hoping to scout potentials, Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists who work backstage prepping models, Photographers who capture stunning runway images for print and online publications, Journalists who conduct interviews with attendees, Fashion Designers, Models, etc.
Not only does Caribbean Fashion Week showcase designs but you can also expect live performances from local and international Recording Artistes. Last year Kelly Rowland took the stage and had the entire crowd singing along while she performed her then hit songs, Kisses Down Low and Motivation.
Caribbean Fashion Week definitely plays an important role in branding and highlighting the Caribbean in a positive light and helps emerging and established Fashion Designers and Recording Artistes in gaining exposure both locally and internationally which allows them to become even more successful in their careers.
The star-studded event officially starts today with arrivals and fittings at the Jamaican Pegasus Hotel. The shows will take place at National Indoor Sports Centre located in the city of Kingston.
This year, Caribbean Fashion Week will be showcasing designs from 30 immensely talented Designers as well as performances from Reggae Artiste Maxi Priest and Denyque.
